AW-Energy was founded in 2002 and has conducted extensive R&D and prototyping of the WaveRoller technology. Marine tests conducted with WaveRoller in the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Scotland and in Peniche, Portugal have validated the energy generation potential of wave surge and the suitability of WaveRoller  to convert this energy source into electricity.

The company has an executive management and Board of Directors with decades of collective relevant and complementary experience. Our team understands  the submarine world and flow mechanics as well as the mechanical engineering challenges  they present. Our technological experience  has been gained primarily at Fortum, the largest Finnish energy company producer. Our CEO, Mr. John Liljelund has vast experience in business development and in creating strategies for  the renewables sector.

The Board of Directors is chaired by Mr. Ari Siponmaa, a Managing Partner of Aura Capital, a leading Finnish early stage venture capital investor. His previous experience includes senior positions with international management consultancies including A.T. Kearney, Gemini Consulting and Andersen Consulting (Accenture).
