AW-Energy was founded in 2002 and has since then conducted extensive R&D and prototyping of the technology. Marine tests conducted with WaveRoller in the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney, Scotland have verified the energy generation potential of bottom waves and the suitability of WaveRoller in converting this energy source into electricity.

The company has compiled an executive management and Board of Directors with decades of relevant complementary experience. We have a team understanding the submarine world and flowmechanics as well as the mechanical engineering challenges with these plants. The technological experience of the company is derived from Fortum, the largest Finnish company in energy industry. The CEO, Mr. Tuomo Hyysalo has years of top management experience with international manufacturing industries including engineering and energy fields.

Board of Directors is chaired by Mr. Timo Peltola, who has top-level corporate executive management experience as the 15 year CEO of Huhtamaki. He is also chairman of the board at Neste Oil, and a member of the board for SAS and Nordea.
